Nottingham Green Guardians

Nottingham Green Guardians is a new volunteering programme in Nottingham aimed at creating a cleaner and greener city. It covers different areas of the city and the volunteers commit their time to help improve Nottingham and it’s biodiversity.
The client came to us with the need to define their brand and logo in a way that shows they are green, ethical with the aim of doing good in the world and helping to improve the city of Nottingham.
The audience is people who may want to get involved in the volunteer programme and also people who may want to read a bit more and learn about the ways in which the programme is improving the city. The name itself already tells quite a clear story of what it is, and so the brand needed to match that.
The challenge was creating a unique logo that was also simple and communicated that it was natural, green, outdoors based and all about people helping outdoors and working together to create better outside spaces.
I started by getting all of my ideas onto paper and creating some really rough concept sketches. Thinking about what it needed to communicate and drawing what came to mind. There were a couple of concepts that stuck out initially, which were the most simple ones.
I then worked on refining the best ones digitally, developing it and experimenting with shapes and typography until I came to the final logo design. Following this, brand guidelines were created. The client was happy with the final result and felt like it showed what Nottingham Green Guardians was all about.
